The 4-C's of Diamonds
There are four elements that go into determining a diamond's quality. You have probably heard of the 4-C's. They are: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. At Dearborn Jewelers, we are frequently asked, "Which of the 4-C's is most important?"
With Clarity, the difference between VVS, VS, and SI is invisible to the naked eye.
Color is subjective. Some women prefer a slightly warmer body color in a diamond, especially if the setting is Yellow Gold.
Carat Weight is simply a measure of weight. Is a two carat diamond more beautiful than a carat and three quarters? Not necessarily. It depends on what is right for you.
Cut is extremely important. A well-cut diamond brings out all of the fire and brilliance the gemstone has to offer. Did you know most of the diamonds in the world are not cut for maximum brilliance? They are cut for weight retention. We tell our customers, "Get an excellent cut. It makes the diamond sparkle." Isn't that what a diamond is supposed to do?
Dearborn Jewelers is proud to be your authorized retailer for the world's most beautiful diamond - The Lazare Diamond. Every Lazare Diamond is cut and polished to produce the optimal balance of brilliance, scintillation, and fire.
Dearborn Jewelers uses cutting-edge IC2 iMac-based computer technology to measure light performance in a diamond. The beauty evaluator shoots light into the diamond from 48 different lighting conditions. The computer captures the sparkles and measures the brilliance, scintillation, and symmetry of the diamond. Be sure to contact us today to reserve a time for your personal IC2 session. You too will see the difference.
There are only 2 diamond grading lab services that we, at Dearborn Jewelers, value above all others. They are: The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and the American Gem Society (AGS). Lab Reports issued by these two highly respected organizations tend to be tougher, more accurate, and more consistent than any other lab reports out there. Dearborn Jewelers has been a member of the American Gem Society since 1965. AGS members are knowledgeable and credentialed experts in gems and jewelry. We adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards.
